The decision involves whether the company will work with unions or develop a nonunion operation. Since the management team has little to no experience with unions, it would good to discuss if unions would even be allowed at the company. The biggest apprehension for the organization would be the impact of a union to the company. The management team will need to evaluate the possible impact on productivity, profits and stock performance. The greatest argument over unions is the impact to productivity. There are certain organizations that argue that the limits on workloads and the rules set by the union restrict the company’s productivity. November 11, 1918 marketed the end of World War I. During the 2 yeas the United States fought, women became part of the labor force as well as African Americans, the Nineteenth Amendment was passed and factories were booming. Even After the war men returned to the work force and quality of life started to improve. October 1929, the stock market crashed as a result of many buying goods on credit. The Great Depression was the worst in American history and lasted until 1939 before America started in War preparations for World War II. It was after 1945 when men came home and reentered the work force that quality of life improved and we begin to see the rise of the middle class. Pre-World War II the Great Depression which lasted from 1929-1939 created 15% unemployment. Many lost their homes, cars, and life style. Prior to the great depression the U.S. went into a recession in 1918-1919 and again in 1920. This was a result of the loans we gave to France and Britain during World War I and the money given to Germany to pay war reparations. The loans were never paid back and that dragged the U.S. into a recession. In an effort to combat the growing unemployment rate President Franklin D. Roosevelt created the New Deal. This was a series of programs enacted 1933-1938 focusing of relief, recovery and reform. Miss Emily, the main character of this story, lives for many years as a recluse, someone who has withdrawn from a community to live in seclusion. After her fathers death she went out very little; after her sweetheart went away, people hardly saw her at all (395). The death of her father and the shattered relationship with her sweetheart contributed to her seclusion. Though her father was responsible for her becoming a recluse, her pride also contributed to her seclusion. None of the young men were quite good enough for Miss Emily and such 395. Miss Emilys pride resulted in the shocking murder of Homer Baron. Faulkners use of characterization to describe Miss Emily and her intentions was triumphant in bring the story to life.
